Estimates tab
Use this tab to set user access to estimates. You can set global permissions, allowing all users to view or edit estimates or allowing existing users to view or edit new estimates—or you can ensure that all estimate permissions are assigned on an individual basis.
To display this tab, click [Security] on the ribbon in the Estimating Management Console, and then select the Estimates tab in the Security window.
The Estimates tab is divided into three sections.
- A set of options that permit global View or Edit access.
- An Estimates grid that lists all estimates and provides details about each estimate.
-
A Permissions grid that lists all Sage Estimating users assigned to a role that gives them Create Estimate permission.
By default, the user who creates an estimate and users with administrator rights can view and edit it. However, you need to assign permissions to other users before they can view an estimate or save changes.
Users with Change estimate security permission can also assign estimate permissions from the Estimate Information window in the Sage Estimating application.

Search |
Use Search box to display estimates with attributes that match your search terms. The results can include text matches from any of the columns in the grid. |
<Grouping area> |
You can drag a column header to this area to group estimates by that column. When you group estimates by a column, the groups are expanded by default. |
![]() |
A pencil icon in this column indicates whether an estimate is locked exclusively for a user who is editing it. |
Branch |
This column indicates the branch where the estimate is located in the Estimates catalog. |
<Project information> |
The grid includes a number of columns providing information from the estimate, including the estimate name, project name, address information, job size, contract amount, and so on. |
|
Click the filter icon in any column header to filter the estimates displayed in the grid by that column. |
|
Click any column header to sort the estimates displayed in the grid by that column. The arrow on the Sort icon indicates the direction (ascending or descending) of the sort. Clicking in sequence changes the direction of the sort or removes sorting from the list. Note: You need to click a column header to see the icon. |
Permissions grid
You use this grid to give authorized users View or Edit permission for any estimate you select in the Estimate grid. Administrator users do not appear in the Permissions grid because they always have permissions for all estimates.

![]() |
A check mark in this column indicates that a user has View access for a selected estimate. If you select multiple estimates and a user only has View access for some of them, a horizontal bar appears in the column. To provide a user View access to an estimate selected in the Estimates grid, in the View column, select the checkbox for a user. The user can view the estimate but not save any changes to it. Clear the checkbox to remove View access for the user. Tip: You can select the checkbox in the column header to select or clear this permission for all users, rather than selecting View checkboxes one at a time for each user. |
![]() |
A check mark in this column indicates that a user has Edit access for a selected estimate. If you select multiple estimates and a user only has Edit access for some of them, a horizontal bar appears in the column. To provide a user Edit access to an estimate selected in the Estimates grid, in the Edit column, select the checkbox for the user. Clear the checkbox to remove Edit access for the user. Note: Edit access automatically confers View access to the user. Users need either View or Edit access to see the estimate in their estimate lists in the Sage Estimating application. Tip: You can select the checkbox in the column header to select or clear this permission for all users, rather than selecting Edit checkboxes one at a time for each user. |
