Dragging items or assemblies to another spreadsheet level in the same estimate

Providing that the items are not combined, you can drag items or assemblies to another spreadsheet level in the estimate when the current spreadsheet sequence includes any one of these levels:

  • Work breakdown structure (WBS)—Detail and Takeoff types
  • Location
  • Subcontractor
  • Material Class
  • JC Phase
  • Unassigned
  • Vendor
  • Alternate
  • Price Code

To select items or assemblies that you want to move or copy:

  • Click an item's row header to select it.
  • To select additional items, hold down the Ctrl key and click on their row headers.

To select all the items or assemblies within an overline:

  • Collapse the overline (double-click its row header).
  • Select the overline (click its row header).

To move the items or assemblies:

Hold the left mouse button down and drag the items to the desired spreadsheet level, and then release the mouse button.

To copy the items or assemblies:

Hold down the Ctrl key and left mouse button, drag the items to the desired spreadsheet level, and then release the mouse button.

Tips:

  • You can drag items to a different spreadsheet level when using a user-defined spreadsheet sequence. Estimating reassigns levels depending on where you drop the items.

  • After takeoff, you cannot add items to an assembly using drag and drop. However, you can move items within an assembly, as well as move or copy items to the Unassigned level using the drag and drop feature.
